BMW has been at the forefront of premium electrification since launching the groundbreaking i3 in 2013. BMW's current CLAR-based EVs continue to be competitive, with regular updates keeping them fresh. The refreshed iX lineup introduced in 2024-2025 brought improved range, faster charging, and the powerful M70 xDrive variant. The i5 Touring remains unique as one of the few electric premium estate cars on the market. BMW M has also embraced electrification with high-performance variants like the i4 M60, i5 M60, and iX M70.

BMW's charging strategy includes partnerships with major networks and the IONNA joint venture with other automakers to build high-power charging infrastructure in North America. The brand is committed to having at least one fully electric model in every segment by 2025 and expects electric vehicles to account for over 50% of global sales by 2030.
